Things You Might Love, Things You Might Despise Pt X

The Black Keys joined the realm of hiphop and created this beautiful thing called Blakroc music. So, I'm not being lazy. I think the biographical aspect to Blakroc's jamz is just really important.

"What the world needs now is a solid rap-rock project. At least that's what the Black Keys are thinking. Hence: Blakroc, a new hybrid endeavor spearheaded by the Ohio blues-rock duo and Damon Dash, as well as entrepreneurial MC Jim Jones, who alluded to the meeting of the minds on Twitter back in June. He was not kidding. Blakroc's self-titled debut LP is out on November 27 and features an impressive guest list: Mos Def, RZA, Raekwon, Q-Tip, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P.'s Billy Danze, Jones, and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard. Together, the dudes are establishing their own label, Blakroc, to release the album...As an added bonus, we've got a track from the album called "Ain't Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo)"- with Mos Def singing, Jim Jones providing surprisingly emo verses, and the Keys' Dan Auerbach la la-ing in the background..." - PITCHFORK http://hypem.com/#/search/blakroc/1/

So the polar opposite of Blakroc would probably this indie singer song writer called Rachael Cantu. She makes wonderful warm acoustic jamz. I'm really enjoying them. Imagine Laura Marling writing country music. Hmm but then some songs are very pop-py and remind me of Tegan and Sara - The Con -days. Listen now on her myspace: http://www.myspace.com/rachaelcantu

Yay! We finally received the very long awaited debut LP from Real Estate. Real Estate is made up of four dudes, all stoners, and all who work to make this amazing music that I have come to love so so much. Listen to Real Estate while you at the mouth of the sea watching the sunset. Beach jamz, aaf. I've seen them a bunch of times and they're amazing live, so definitely get around to checking them out! http://www.myspace.com/letsrockthebeach

So now that the end of 2009 is right around the corner, it's time to talk top records of the year. One record that will absolutely make it onto many lists is Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavillion. Well, that wasn't enough for Animal Collective. They just released a new EP on Domino Records called Fall Be Kind. It's definitely an awesome EP but there are hints that there will be a long time until Animal Collective releases a new record. I'm not a crazy Animal Collective fanatic, but those of you who are, I'm sure this record will touch you in all the right places. What Would I Want Sky is the only song I really listened to and it was pretty fucking awesome. http://www.myspace.com/animalcollective
You know, every time I do reviews, there's always something that sucks and this time it's Meg Wolf. Born in raised in the middle of no-where, she now resides in Brooklyn making electroacoustic pop jamz. I listened to her first myspace song and was enthusiastic about the rest; but then reality came crashing down on me and I realized that Meg Wolf made one solid pop jam and the rest were quite terrible. If you're interested and compelled to learn more, here is the link to her myspace: http://www.myspace.com/megwolfmusic
