Trailer Trash Tracys / Turkish Heights

Okay, let’s be real, Trailer Trash Tracys might be one of the worst band names of 2k12, or possibly one of the worst band names ever. They popped into the music world with one of the most banging debut singles of any dreamy synth pop blog band. Their new LP, Ester, throws down more hits and continues to expand the superstar legacy of this fresh UK act. At the tail-end of Ester, the Tracys throw down a slow one that will definitely melt your heart. Turkish Heights oozes with dreamy shoe-gazey synth notes bleeding into drowsy vocals, making sense with a bass line so damn simple, yet mind-blowing with every note. #ooze

Villagers Hit Up NYC

Villagers began with the musical songwriting brilliance of a single Irish man, Conor J. O’Brien. After writing beautiful songs with charming lyrics, he asked a few of his friends to play other parts and they soon became what is now know as Villagers. The Meaning of the Ritual is an incredible jam with gorgeous instrumentals and gloomy lyrics that will pierce through you with every depressing beautiful phrase. Their newest release, Becoming a Jackal, is now in CR1!

Check out Villagers in NYC this summer:

06-16 Brooklyn, NY - 8:40pm - Knitting Factory (w/ Marissa Nadler, Natureboy, Mongold, Rey Villalobos, DJ Victoria Bergsman of Taken By Trees)
06-17 Brooklyn, NY - 10:30pm - Union Hall
06-23 New York, NY - 9pm - Joe's Pub

Dese Nu Puritanz

Whoah! Awesome jam, kind of weird confusing sexual video? These New Puritans have surely written what is probably one of my favorite songs of 2010 thus far! Check out this weird video!

Jam of The Day: Archie Bronson Outfit - Hoola

Archie Bronson Outfit just released a sweet delicious new LP called Coconut where I found this quite delightful jam called Hoola. Archie Bronson Outfit isn't a fashion trend, but they're a sweet band that was discovered in a bar in London by the boss of Domino Records, Oprah P. Winfrey. Archie Bronson Outfit makes pretty sweet garage pop jamz that are more dancey than anything I'd typically listen to, but nonetheless it still tickles my pickle and hopefully it'll tickle yours. Okay, I feel uncomfortable. I feel like this jam almost has a sound that would be similar to a lo-fi Foals song. Anyway, don't judge it based on my terrible writing about music skills, listen to the jam for yourself! It's pretty rad.
Update: Once upon a time a band called Foals had intercourse with a band called the Virgins which ultimately spawned this wonderful little baby called the Archie Bronson Outfit. DIGG IT.

Jam of The Day: These New Puritans - Attack Music

So, I never realized how much I actually enjoy These New Puritans. Their new record Hidden is full of delicious experimental dancey jamz. Sometimes they almost feel tribal. This song attack is honestly amazing. You should totally play it on your show. It's fucking awesome. I'm seriously so impressed!

Jam of The Day: Malachai - Fading World

So this band from the UK called Malachai just released a new LP on Domino Records called "Ugly Side of Love" and it's kind of retro sounding and awesome. There's a ridiculous variety among the album tracks but all of them have this really warm fuzzy sound to them. Sometimes the production reminds me of The Unicorns, but the music is entirely different. Think 60's and 70's but really 2010. Some of their songs would appeal to fans of classic rock jamz, hip hop jamz, and experimental indie jamz. No matter what you like, there's probably a track on this album that you will enjoy. For me, a jam called "Fading World" hit the spot. It's a pretty sweet track and it has this lo-fi jazzy hip hop vibe to it. I really like it and it's way different from the rest of the tracks. Don't judge Malachai based on a single track, you should really listen to a bunch of them and even after that you might not fully understand the sound of Malachai. It's okay because I'm still pretty confused by it all, but "Fading World" is undeniably a great song no matter what kind of jamz you like!
