Jam of The Day: Freeway and Jake One - One Thing Feat. Raekwon

Hiphop has seriously been stepping it's game up. We have a whole bunch of amazing rap albums chilling in CR1. We have the live jazz trio from Chicage called the J. Davis Trio which is very Tribe Called Quest-esque. We also have the amazing collaboration from the Black Keys and various rappers called Blakroc which has made Cut Supreme's show for the last month or so. We also have this phenomenal new album from another trio that goes by the name Strong Arm Steady which is definitely a winner for anyone who loves Talib Kweli and anything Black Smith-ed out. We also have the new Wale LP which isn't too bad either. But now Freeway and Jake One have added to the amazing collection of new rap albums recently released. Freeway has always been pretty epic but this album is really fucking awesome and the jam of the day is a song that surprisingly enough features one of the best rappers from the last year or so, Raekwon! It's got some sweet lyrics and an insanely catchy beat. "One Thing" is everything I've been wishing to hear in the last ten years. Open your mind to the sounds of Freeway and Jake One because it's fucking awesome. And the album came wrapped in a wad of cash with Freeway's face in the center and it's called the Stimulus Package. How sick is that? It's fucking awesome, that's what it is.

Chromeo, Two Hours Traffic, Dutchess & The Duke, Raekwon, Sissy Wish, World's Greatest Ghosts

Chromeo's new single, "Night by Night," is pretty much everything you'd expect from Chromeo and nothing more. Funky, dancey, disco jamz. And if you've never heard of Chromeo, youza foo'. Chromeo is the dopest. The single is up on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/chromeo

So EMI sent us the new Raekwon record. Don't be afraid to check it out! It's pretty awesome & has plenty of dope beats along with star studded guests such as Ghostface Killah, Styles P, Slick Rick, Beanie Sigel, and Jadakiss! FCC Clean! http://www.myspace.com/raekwon

Two Hours Traffic brings us more catchy Canadian pop rock jamz. Some jamz are almost reminiscent of the good ol' Weezer days. So check out the jam, "Happiness Burns," because it sounds like a raspier Rivers Cuomo during the days of the Blue Album and Pinkerton. http://www.myspace.com/twohourstraffic

Sissy Wish - Super poppy Norwegians for fans of Lykke Li, newer Metric Jamz, Imogen Heap, Kate Bush, and the Concretes. It's not so bad and I'm not even into pop jamz. They remind me of the newish record by the Grates (Featuring the chick from Mates of State!).

Oh man, World's Great Ghosts made this sweet poppy record that reminds me very much of the new Royal Bangs record. DOPE. It reminds of this sweet ska band, Eskalators. So no matter what kind of jamz you tend to listen to, check out this record! Good jamz, aaf.

Oh man! The Dutchess and The Duke are very good. It's kind of acousticy folk jamz. Splendid.
