Crystal Stilts

So I'm thinking that 2011 will be far more perfect than 2010 in terms of new releases. We're already kicking the year off with new releases from Young Prisms and the Crystal Stilts, both producing some of the greatest, fuzziest, pop jams ever. Crystal Stilts just released a 7" on Slumberland records that hints at what goods the full length will have. Haunting hazy vocals with spooky distorted keys and echoed guitars driven by the beat of the tambourine makes the b-side of this 7" absolutely perfect, pretty much like every other Crystal Stilts track that exists.

Frankie Rose

Frankie Rose is probably the coolest chick around. She walked out on some of the best bands in the "indie" rock scene including Vivian Girls, Dum Dum Girls, & Crystal Stilts. She just released her debut LP on Slumberland which is full of sweet jangley pop jams laced with sugary delicate harmonies. Check out the track Candy which is probably a lot bolder and more dancey than anything else on the record!

Jam of The Day: Black Tambourine - Throw Aggi Off The Bridge

Black Tambourine is a band that has been around for quite some time. They were one of the first artists to ever be released on Slumberland records and they've just recently released a new LP that has some older songs along with some unreleased material. If you like sweet lo-fi pop jamz that sound like the Vivian Girls meets Crystal Stilts, you'd probably like Black Tambourine. My favorite jam thus far on the album (I've only listened to it once all the way through) is a song called, "Throw Aggi Off The Bridge." It's pretty catchy and the sound and nostalgic feeling of their music kind of reminds me of the Vaselines. You'll like it.
