My suggestions: The Hidden Cameras, Sea Wolf, Drummer, Dead Man's Bones, Deluka.
The Islands are a sweet super indie pop band from Montreal. Their album Vapours, isn't anything phenomenal, but it's definitely fun, pop-ish, and dancey. It's like the lame version of Golden Silvers. Although they're not quite as good, they still might surprise you. I feel like if you're Kenyon Hopkin, this would be right up your alley.

Sea Wolf is another really awesome band from Dangerbird Records. If you haven't checked out the record, you should definitely get around to it. 1000x better than Islands. (no beef with islands). Sea Wolf is pretty pop jamz for fans of Spencer Krug and Maps And Atlases and maybe the Big Pink.

Gordon Gano makes me want to get my square dancing on. Just kidding. But really, this record is pretty awesome; something I definitely overlooked through the course of my music directing. Really awesome country indie pop that makes you want to jam at a sweet hoe down. Some of their jamz also straight up suck. Nonetheless check out my favorite jam which is also on their myspace, Hired Gun.
http://www.myspace.com/gordonganoandtheryanbrothers The Grates are also another band I simply overlooked. I think initially I enjoyed their jamz, but they're much better than I recalled. They're ultra poppy and they sound like Leah Seigel with Los Campesinos backing her. The album also features members of Mates of State.

The Rain Machine makes me feel confused. From one angle, I definitely like the different kind of vibe their music has; it's pretty unique. I just don't feel like it's so awesome. Not feeling the jamz. They have the right elements; crazy awesome vocals and cool instrumentals. They just don't combine to create anything spectacular. Boo=ish Rain Machine. If you're going to start on any song, check out "Smiling Black Faces." I don't know why I keep referencing Spencer Krug today, but his vocals remind me a lot of Spencer Krug. Yeah, "Smiling Black Faces" is a legit solid jam.
http://www.myspace.com/rainmachinemusic This man is named David Bazan. He creates music that is widely appealing but kind of corny and pop-y in a terrible retro-sounding way. Maybe along the lines of folk Religious pop. I mean his jamz are fun; all jamz are fun. But I don't think I'll be waltzing around SBU with my iPod jamming to David Bazan. His music makes me so confused because as I listen to it, I secretly jam and smile, but mostly I hate it. Maybe I'm just in denial. I think maybe I only like the chorus'. He's just getting annoying now. (angry emoticon).
http://www.myspace.com/davidbazan The Hidden Cameras are not nearly as terrible as I assumed they would be. They've got that retro sound which sounds like the melody was taken directly from a popular retro holiday tune. Genre: Indie Rock / Stolen Xmas Jamz. Check out their new CD in CR1. They're kind of good and refreshing. I still don't understand how Pitchfork gave them such a terrible review. It's pretty good. "In The NA Remix" is probably my favorite jam of theirs. The original is fun, too.
I feel like Moneen is Fico jamz. I feel like Rob & Rita would also dig these jamz. I guess they would be considered Fico music / alternative / pop / rock. Also played by Dob's Love Army.

Tim Williams is pretty awesome. Borderline Fico music. His story is actually pretty interesting, too. He had open heart surgery and decided to continue on the path of musical career, found himself in LA, fell in love, and I never read more on him than that. He has a pretty voice and his jamz are something you'd expect to see near the cash register while you're waiting for your double triple mocha-frappa-chino-atte at Starbucks. Don't be afraid of coffeehouse jamz.

Drummer! Is Awesome. Another sweet band I just overlooked. If Two Hours Traffic and Against Me and Royal Bangs all made a giant musical baby, it would sound very much like this.

Dead Man's Bones is strangely experimental in a fantastic way. Experimental, but I really can't think of any band they sound like. I like it. Good jamz.

Electric Tickle Machine is a phenomenal band name and they rock. Trust me. Just listen to them and feel the happiness that results. "Blew It Again" is the perfect song to kick off you Electric Tickle Machine experience.

Deluka rocks! They fill in the empty void CSS has left. Electro-rock never gets old. All the jamz on their record are pretty solid, but "Cascade" makes me all smiley. I feel like Bro Bill might be all over these jamz. If you are bro bill and you are reading this and you haven't checked out this record, you need to get all up on this!
