Things You Might Love, Things You Might Despise Pt 5

Yo, madd variety. We've got hip hop, jazz, experimental, garage, hillbilly, and alternative!
CRAZZZY.
We have a new single from the one and only, Theophilus London. For those of you who may not know, Theophilus London is a Brooklyn-ite who makes indie dance jamz fuzed with delicious hip hop. I really dig it and I'm stoked for an LP, well you know, if this single at the tail end of 09' implies that there will be a 2010 LP. Who knows. Check out the new single, Humdrum Town: http://www.myspace.com/theophiluslondon
Maxfield Gast makes sweet jazzy jamz, songs that you would like. I'm not usually into jazzy things, so definitely give it a listen. So check out his new record, Eat Your Beats. http://www.myspace.com/maxfield
"Fully re-mastered vinyl edition of what was originally a Europe-only cassette released in an edition of 80 copies from the solo project of Spencer Clark of The Skaters/Vodka Soap/Monopoly Child et al. Spencer describes Black Joker as being more drone-focused and with faster percussion than the recent Monopoly Child sets. Indeed, the percussion is thrifty and up-front, with arcs of criss-crossing time signatures generating maximum space/time confusion. The combination of trance-informed momentum and bubbling electronic sci-fi tones sounds closest to one of the Sun Ra Arkestras most future-visioned takes on “Ancient Aethiopia” while expanding on the classic post-Angus MacLise feel of all of the best Skaters material. Comes with pro-printed 80s style 12” maxi-sleeves with liner notes by Fortean authority, itinerant visionary and Skaters road mangler in-absentia Charles Berlitz. ”…the drifting of desert sand sculptures appearing within crystaline miraged mountains during a cycle in which the gleaming of sand star sparkled night is blown, floating towards dawn, as the racing of the camels amongst the sunbound mirages expend dimensions of presentation for these sculptures, which, as wind diminishes and returns, a sand is cast to represent the variety of dimensions interacted : as symbold vision, where the atmosphered wind senses the stars amongst the sand, the camel within the mirage, and the mediation of an experiences whole motion of interaction...” - David Keenan
You know, like an hour ago I was listening to Taylor Hollingsworth and now I've gone back to it and I don't really like it nearly as much as I had originally thought I did. Now it kind of creeps me out. "Damn Boy What's Wrong With You" is a good song to start off on. I think that was what I listened to like an hour ago and I still like it. This one is more lofi cowboy rock. Then move to "Westfalia" which is little more playful, but still retains the same level of hilly billy-ness. And "I Love You by Syd Barret" is also another good tune, another lo-fi cowboy rock jam with a bluesy feel. Holla. Hill Billy-s for life. No exaggeration, this dude hails from Alabama. It's serious.
Mukaikaze is a band from Australia with a terrible name and really terrible album art, dreadful album art. But they sound good and I think you guys will all generally enjoy it. Sweet alternative catchy pop jamz. Check out their new LP Unknown Unknowns. It's pretty damn catchy. http://www.myspace.com/mukaizake

So maybe you've heard of this band who rocked Philly during the 80's called the Vels. Well, apparently, they disbanded in 1987 and now lead singer/writer Alice Cohen writes her own stuff for an awesome label called Olde English Spelling Bee. Her stuff is awesome and experimental and I think a lot of you may like it. Her CD has been in CR1 for a while now, but no one, absolutely no one has played it. And that's cool. Now we have this sick 12" vinyl to play. Maybe you'll give it a listen. I believe she is also an artist and her artwork is feautured on the sleeve of the vinyl. Who knows. I could totally be making that up. http://www.myspace.com/alicecohen

I love how much vinyl we've been getting. Well Big Spoon records sent us a 7" from an awesome west coast garage band called RD Mauzy. I loveee garage jamz and I really like this, too. I enjoy bands that don't abuse the reverb. http://www.myspace.com/rdmauzy
