Sticky Fruitman Has Faith

Last year, White Fence released their debut self titled LP via Woodsist and it was absolutely one my favorite records of the year. They're back again with their newest creation, Is Growing Faith, which continues the warped fuzzy bedroom pop sound of their debut. Every track on this kind of rules, but one my favorites is Stranger Things Have Happened (To You). It's rockin' the 60's pop vibes like no other, but with the playfulness of something you'd hear on White Fence's S/T, which this record lacks a bit of. Nonetheless, this record sustains the huge range of variety & all the magical brilliance you heard on the first record. Definitely give it a listen, you're bound to like something on there!

Featured: Ducktails
To be released January 2011.

Ducktails is the one-man psychedelic pop project of Matthew Mondanile, guitarist for North Jersey's Real Estate and more importantly, a proud son of the mid-1980s. At 22 he started releasing his own cassette albums at first living in Northampton, MA. His first 7 inch came out on Breaking World Records followed by a string of LP's, Cassettes, and CD's on small independent likeminded labels like Not Not Fun, Olde English Spelling Bee, Release the Bats, Arbor, Goaty Tapes etc. Born in Ridgewood, NJ and now surrounded by a like-minded crew of young songwriters, Matt spends his time either touring or recording in the basement of his parent's house and partying in the city. Categorized by David Keenan as part of the "hypnagogic pop" movement, Ducktails attempts to realize a shared cultural memory and nostalgia through various genres, drone, psych, music concrete, etc. Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics, is Mondanile's third official full-length LP and will be released by Woodsist Records in Jan. 2011. I'll Follow You

Oh man, so I haven't had the chance to rave about the new White Fence record. It's so great! It's actually a "side project" from Tim Presley of the Strange Boys. That might be wrong, but I think I read that somewhere! The record is full of warped nostalgic sounds that bring you back to the sweet jamz of the sixties. "I'll Follow You" is a decadent jam with a playful bass line and a hint of frayed childhood toys. I might have made the last part up, but since I'm not too musically inclined, I have no idea what the instrument is. I think you'll enjoy their S/T record regardless of what music you're into or whatever you think you like to play on the airwaves. It's so good and awfully catchy.
